So, first things first - don't let the new name fool you. The 2010 Nissan Altima 3.5 SR is basically the same as the outgoing sport-tuned 3.5 SE model, albeit with the refreshed styling and technology bits common to all 2010 Altimas. But at the same time, don't let this model's advancing years put you off. The 3.5 SE was the sports car of family sedans when it debuted for 2002, and the 3.5 SR carries on that tradition, even as the current-generation Altima enters its fourth year of production.
The 2010 Nissan Altima 3.5 SR is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 270 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The CVT is now mandatory, as the formerly available six-speed manual has been discontinued for 2010. EPA fuel economy estimates are 20 mpg city/27 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined. At the test track, our Altima hit 60 mph in 6.8 seconds en route to a 14.8-second quarter-mile at 97.5 mph - healthy numbers for a V6-powered family sedan. Brake testing returned a respectable stopping distance of 123 feet from 60 mph.
The Altima 3.5 SR's cabin is hushed at highway speeds, but there's no doubt that the sporty suspension has an effect on the car's ride quality. Those looking for Camry-style cushioning over broken pavement should head straight for their local Toyota dealers. Still, this Altima's suspension is by no means harsh; it just provides less isolation from the road below, a trait that the target audience actually might appreciate. The rival we're most reminded of in this respect is the Honda Accord, though it lacks the 3.5 SR's overt athleticism.
The Altima received a mild exterior styling refresh for 2010, and our staff is split on whether it's an improvement. In any case, the current Altima has always been a good-looking car, and nothing about the new tweaks changes that.

Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today confirmed that an all-new small
crossover SUV, the Nissan Juke, will join the Nissan lineup in the
United States in fall 2010. The European version of the dramatically
styled Juke will be revealed to the media on February 10th and makes
its global public premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The North
American version of Juke is scheduled to debut at the New York Auto
Show in late March.

According to the article: "It's not the world's first electric car, but the Nissan Leaf, launched in August, is the first fully electric vehicle built for mass production for the global market. To help drivers shift their thinking from gas to green, Japan's third largest automaker has about 30 partnerships worldwide focused on developing an infrastructure of battery-recharging stations to keep electric vehicles on the roads. The car's top speed is more than 90 m.p.h. (145 km/h), and its range is 100 miles (160 km) on a full charge. When it moves, it makes a futuristic sound like the flying cars in Blade Runner. Nissan will produce 50,000 Leafs each year at its Oppama plant, southwest of Tokyo, starting in the fall of 2010."
The Nissan Cube has earned a 2010 Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety. The Top Safety Pick award recognizes vehicles that provide superior overall crash protection among vehicles in their class and only includes vehicles with available electronic stability control. The cube comes standard with Nissan's electronic stability control system, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC).
The popular Nissan Altima, ranked number one in segment in the 2009 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study (IQS), enters the 2010 model year with fresh exterior styling, refined interior treatments and a host of technology enhancements to its navigation and entertainment systems. Available in three distinct models - Altima Sedan, Altima Coupe and Altima Hybrid - the 2010 Altimas will be available at Nissan dealers nationwide beginning Monday, October 5th.

Now in its fourth generation, with nearly 3.2 million units sold worldwide, Altima provides a unique combination of exhilarating driving pleasure, distinctive and sporty design and exceptional quality and value in the mid-size sedan and coupe classes.
Again in 2010, Altima is available in a variety of well-equipped trim levels designed to appeal to a broad range of buyer needs and budgets, including 175-horsepower 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder and 270-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine-equipped 4-door Altima Sedan and sporty 2-door Altima Coupe versions.

EPA fuel economy is estimated at 35 mpg City and 33 mpg Highway. Among the many changes for all 2010 Altimas are a restyled hood, grille and front bumper, new wheel designs, standard Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) on all models, revised interior fabric and finishers, new exterior colors and revised option package content. In addition, the previous Altima 3.5 SE designation has been renamed the 3.5 SR.

Nissan North America Targets 20,000 Reservations by Launch Near End of 2010; Will Expand Production to U.S. in 2012
In response to strong initial
demand for the Nissan LEAF zero-emission electric car, Nissan North
America, Inc. announced it will begin taking reservations for LEAF in
spring 2010. Nearly 22,000 people in North America have contacted
Nissan since the company unveiled the car in August.
"The groundswell of interest, especially from people in our initial
launch markets, demonstrates to us the importance of a reservation
system," said Carlos Tavares, head of Nissan's operations in North,
Central and South America. "Our goal is to confirm at least 20,000
reservations for Nissan LEAF by the time we deliver the world's first
mass-market zero-emission car in late 2010."
Nissan will invite people to "opt-in" and receive updates and
information about LEAF through a reservation system that will tell them
when the electric car is available - either for test drives or to take
home. Participants will receive the latest news about the company's
zero-emission activities as well as information about Nissan LEAF and
how to become "plug-in ready."
"We'll continue to reach out to this enthusiastic and rapidly growing group as we approach launch," said Tavares.
About 70 percent of the people in North America who have contacted
Nissan about LEAF reside in markets where the all-electric
zero-emission car first will be brought to market.
Of those who have contacted Nissan, about half report that they want to
obtain LEAF as soon as it's available, and another 45 percent indicate
interest in owning an electric vehicle within the next two to three
years. Metro areas with the strongest consumer responses are San Diego,
Calif.; Tucson, Ariz.; Seattle; Portland, Ore.; and Los Angeles - all
of which are among the first markets where LEAF will be available
globally.
More than 90 percent of the people who have contacted Nissan indicate
that they drive less than 100 miles daily, which is the range of LEAF
when fully charged. Meanwhile, 75 percent indicate that they are
members of two-car households - prime candidates for an efficient
commuter car like the all-electric, zero-emission LEAF.
People interested in zero-emission mobility will have the opportunity
to see Nissan LEAF starting in November, on the heels of its appearance
at the Tokyo Motor Show, when it will be on tour throughout the major
launch markets in the United States. The tour will kick off in Los
Angeles at a dedicated event.
Nissan is the only automaker committed to making all-electric vehicles
available to the mass market on a global scale. Beginning in late 2012,
Nissan will manufacture LEAF and its advanced lithium-ion battery pack
for the U.S. market at the company's plant in Smyrna, Tenn. Initially,
LEAF will be manufactured in Japan.
Nissan LEAF will be available for private and fleet customers. People
who wish to participate in the reservation program can visit
www.nissanusa.com/leaf-electric-car. Details about the program and
pricing are being finalized.
In the United States, Nissan - in conjunction with the Renault-Nissan
Alliance - is exploring ways to promote zero-emission mobility and the
development of an electric-vehicle infrastructure through partnerships
in the State of Tennessee, the State of Oregon, Sonoma County and San
Diego in California, Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz., Washington D.C.,
Seattle, and Raleigh, N.C. Additional partnerships will be announced in
the near future.
In North America, Nissan's operations include automotive design,
engineering, consumer and corporate financing, sales and marketing,

environment under the Nissan Green Program 2010, whose key priorities
